Child Safety Device Installation

  • Children can be strangled if a safety device is not installed. Always use a safety device to keep cords or chains out of reach of children.
  • The cord retaining device must be installed at the maximum distance possible from the control mechanism to prevent looped cord(s) becoming slack.
  • Place retaining device on the wall and mark the position of the hole using a pencil. Drill holes using a suitable drill bit. Place device into position ensuring the chain is fully taut. Take the retaining device and screw it using suitable fixings ensuring the device is fully closed.

Fitting Vertical Blinds
During the ordering process as we were asked for the control position (right, left) and fitting options (exact, recess) we will have positioned the controls and prepare the blind accordingly.
The brackets that are supplied with your blind enable you to face-fix the blind onto a wall/window frame, or top-fix the blind onto the ceiling/underside of a recess.
Face Fix & Top Fix
1
Top Fix (to the window frame)
If you have a sound substrate to fit your blinds to the top of your window recess this does provide a neat installation where the blind is situated with minimal risk of damage in a normal situation.

  • Measure and mark the distance allowing for obstructions like handles that protrude into the recess area.
  • Leaving 5-10 cm from each end of the rail, a bracket should be fixed either side of the blind rail and if more than 2 brackets are supplied rest of the brackets should be fitted across the blind width with equal spacing between each bracket.
  • For top-fix brackets, to make sure that the louvres rotate freely without touching the wall or window behind, the front edge of the bracket must be at least 75mm (3”) away from the facing surface behind the rail.
  • Please ensure fixings are suitable for the wall/surface to which you are mounting the brackets.
  • Use a single screw to fix the bracket into the surface. Fit each bracket using the screws provided.

2 3
Fixing Brackets

  • Tilt and hook headrail into bracket. Rest the front ridge of the rail onto the front lip of the bracket. Rotate the headrail, lift the back of the rail to meet the bracket and press firmly upwards until it clicks into place securely.

4

  • To remove the headrail push the bracket up as shown in the picture.

5

  • Now, hook each fabric slat into the headrail travellers ensuring the traveller pegs are in the open position. Before hooking the fabric slats, use the beaded chain to turn the hooks so that they all face side on. This will make the process quicker and also fabric slats will not clash on its first use.

  • Slide the weight into the pocket at the bottom of the each fabric slats (louvre).

Bottom Weight for Fabrics

  • Now you can clip the stabilising chain on to the weights. First chain will run along the front and the second chain will run along the back.

Ling Chain

  • Now you have completed fitting your Vertical Blind. You can now open or close your blind using ball chain and the cord oparating the slats and the blinds itself.

Face Fix (outside of the reveal)
You may need to face fix to get a better substrate or to avoid opening windows, handles or other obstructions. This can be done as below.

  • Use the two screws provided to fix the brackets onto the facing surface.
  • Please ensure fixings are suitable for the wall/surface to which you are mounting the brackets.
  • Tilt and hook the back of the headrail into the bracket, rotate the headrail into position and press firmly upwards. Secure headrail by tightening the front screw of the bracket.
  • Follow the same steps of ‘Top Fixing’ from 7 to 11 above.

Child Safety Device Installation

  • Children can be strangled if a safety device is not installed. Always use a safety device to keep cords or chains out of reach of children.
  • The cord retaining device must be installed at the maximum distance possible from the control mechanism to prevent looped cord(s) becoming slack.
